Gyeonggi Province Operates Joint Promotional Booth at Indonesia
2024 Hospital Expo
Gyeonggi Province participated in the ‘2024 Hospital Expo’ held in Jakarta, Indonesia from October 16 to 19, 2024, and operated a joint promotional booth for Gyeonggi Province.
At this expo, eight medical companies from Gyeonggi Province participated together to widely promote the excellent technologies and products of Gyeonggi medical companies, including medical devices, hospital equipment, and healthcare systems, to overseas markets, as well as to expand business opportunities and explore new markets in Southeast Asia by conducting business meetings with foreign buyers.
Indonesia, boasting the fourth largest population in the world after India, China, and the United States, has the largest domestic market in Southeast Asia. Due to recent economic growth, increasing interest in wellness, rising life expectancy, low birth rates, and inadequate medical infrastructure within the country, the demand for medical institutions and home medical devices is expected to grow steadily.
An official from a participating company in this expo stated, “Indonesia is a great region to use as a springboard for entering the Southeast Asian market, with a large domestic market, low satisfaction with domestic medical facilities, and simplified procedures for importing medical devices and supplies, which has drawn the interest of many companies recently.” Indonesia’s Hospital Expo, now in its 36th year, is held in Jakarta and features participation from the Indonesian Hospital Association and the Medical Device Manufacturers Association, with approximately 600 companies participating as of 2023, where they promoted their products and technologies.
Gyeonggi Province is participating for the second consecutive year in 2023 and is currently operating a joint promotional booth to showcase the excellent technologies and products of Gyeonggi medical companies. In 2023, they achieved results such as signing six on-site contracts (USD 600,000).
In addition, through participation in this expo, Gyeonggi Province held meetings with key health and medical stakeholders in Jakarta to promote the overseas expansion of domestic companies and the activation of the international medical industry in Gyeonggi Province. This will lay the groundwork for enhancing human and material exchanges and technological cooperation between the two regions, and Gyeonggi Province will actively support the overseas expansion of its medical companies.
Going forward, Gyeonggi Province plans to continue efforts to support the overseas expansion of medical companies and to expand opportunities to showcase its excellent products and technologies, thus promoting the medical industry as a key driver of the regional economy and supporting its growth as a representative industry of Gyeonggi Province.
