The Uterus: Women’s Second Heart

Director Sung Young-mo Transfers Advanced Surgery

to Kyrgyzstan Medical Team

 

 

 

 

On April 27 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Sung Young-mo, Director of Gangnam Women’s Hospital in Suwon, delivered a lecture on “Treatment of Uterine and Bladder Disorders” at a medical conference titled “Youth in All Ages.” Participants included obstetricians and gynecologists, endocrinologists, urologists, and cosmetic specialists.

 

Director Sung is one of the leading obstetricians and gynecologists in South Korea, known for developing non-surgical treatments for uterine fibroids (high-intensity focused ultrasound, HIFU) and vaginal reconstruction, as well as pioneering surgical techniques for urinary incontinence (Advanced TOT).

 

 

 

 

Director Sung remarked, “As Korean popular culture gains global popularity, there is curiosity about the secrets behind Korean women’s youthfulness. It seems that they are mainly interested in plastic surgery and makeup techniques.”

Director Sung added, “However, one of the reasons why Korean women appear younger than women from other countries is because they effectively manage and treat women’s diseases.” He emphasized that this aspect was focused on intensively at this conference.

In the past, it was common to perform hysterectomies when there were issues with the uterus. However, Director Sung emphasized at the conference that simple procedures can now preserve the uterus while improving quality of life.

 

 

 

 

Director Sung stated, “Women’s diseases are closely related to fertility rates.” He added, “There is a need to change the perception of women’s diseases among Central Asian women, whose fertility rates are approaching three children per woman.”

The day after the conference, Director Sung conducted a master class at Amanat Hospital, demonstrating urinary incontinence and vaginal reconstruction surgeries directly to local doctors.

 

Gulmira Baitova, the Director of the Medical School Graduate School at Kyrgyzstan International University and a doctor of internal medicine, expressed, “Korean medicine related to women’s diseases seems to be about 30 years ahead of us. Accepting Korean medicine through such conferences is meaningful.”

 

 

 

Director Sung, who also conducted direct consultations with local patients, emphasized multiple times, “The uterus is the second heart of women. I believe that the beauty of women stems from a healthy uterus, and the management and treatment of diseases unique to women are extremely important.”
