23 Nurses from Medical Institutions in Vulnerable Areas,
Including Mongolian National Public Hospital,
Visit Gyeonggi Province for Training
A training group composed of nurses, including those from the Mongolian National Public Hospital, visited Gyeonggi Province for a medical policy training and tour of excellent medical institutions in Gyeonggi Province.
The nursing training group, consisting of 22 Mongolian National Public Hospital nurses recommended by the Mongolian Center of Health Development (CHD) and 1 government official from the Mongolian Ministry of Health, a total of 23 members, participated in the ‘2023 Gyeonggi Short-term Training Program for Mongolian Health Development Center (HDC) Nursing Staff’ from December 4 to 8.
During the visit, they experienced the medical infrastructure of excellent medical institutions in the province, including Ajou University Hospital, Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, and Sihwa Medical Center. They also had time to learn about the local healthcare system through direct experience and interviews with nursing teams in the hospitals.
Additionally, for learning Gyeonggi Province’s public healthcare policy, they visited Yeoju City Health Center and Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center Icheon Hospital, learning about health promotion projects targeting the general public and exploring the facilities.
The completion ceremony held at Gyeonggi Provincial Office on December 7 included a lecture by Kim Jeong-mi, the president of the Gyeonggi-do Nurses Association, on the topic of ‘Korean Nursing Workforce Training and Education System, Nursing Ethics.’ President Kim also presented certificates to the participants who successfully completed the training.
Earlier in August, Gyeonggi Province’s healthcare delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mongolian CHD, pledging cooperation in the field of healthcare, including overseas medical personnel training.
This nursing training was subsequently carried out at the request of the Mongolian CHD as a follow-up project, with the majority of the trainees being nursing personnel from Mongolian regional public hospitals.
Through the overseas training experience of Mongolian regional nursing personnel, it is expected to greatly contribute to strengthening the capacity of local healthcare personnel.
Yoo Young-chul, Director General of Bureau of Health at the Gyeonggi Provincial Office, stated, “Following the agreement with the Mongolian Center of Health Development for healthcare cooperation, follow-up projects have been rapidly implemented.” He added, “We will actively support various medical personnel training programs, inviting not only Mongolian but also overseas healthcare professionals in the future.”
