Gyeonggi-do Hosts Medical Cooperation Research Seminar on Medical Devices and New Medical Technology Evaluation System

On July 27, Gyeonggi-do held a medical cooperation research seminar with the theme of “Medical Devices and New Medical Technology Evaluation System.” The event was held at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital Healthcare Innovation Park’s Future Hall.

Organized by Gyeonggi-do and hosted by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, the seminar aimed to establish a network in the hospital-centered medical industry sector, providing support for on-site-based ideas and technologies. Jointly conducted with Seoul National University Bundang Hospital since 2020, this initiative is part of the “Medical Cooperation Regular Forum Project.”

The main activities include a one-on-one mentoring program that connects experts in fields (medical, investment, regulatory approval) necessary for technology development, research seminars for sharing ideas from the medical field with industry, forums for sharing the latest trends for overseas expansion in the medical industry, and support for clinical or analytical testing related to product market entry evaluation.

This event featured the following presentations: ▲ “Introduction of the New Medical Technology Evaluation System” by Synex CEO Kim Young ▲ “Case Presentation on Integrated Examination System for Innovative Medical Devices” by Deepnoid Team Leader Choi Eun-hye ▲ “Introduction of Support and Status of the Medical Device Research and Development Center” by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital Medical Device Research and Development Center Feasibility Technical Director Lee Yoon-sook, and ▲ “Introduction of Healthcare Innovation Park and Gyeonggi-do’s Medical Cooperation Projects” by Seoul National University Bundang Hospital Research Planning Department Research Professor Hwang Yoo-jin.

Around 110 participants, including personnel from local medical device companies, attended this event. In the post-seminar satisfaction survey, over 95% of the participants expressed satisfaction with their attendance. They evaluated the event as an opportunity to receive valuable insights with lectures on the evaluation and regulations of new medical technologies, and to gather necessary information for future overseas expansion.

A Gyeonggi-do representative stated, “Since 2020, we have provided tailored mentoring support to 46 companies.” Then added, “With the Gyeonggi-do Medical Cooperation Regular Forum project, we will continue to work together to resolve challenges in the technology and product development process. This will enable us to address the needs of companies and strive to achieve more successful outcomes.
