Gyeonggi-do to Hold Online Meetings for Patients in Central Asia

Gyeonggi-do will be hosting the Gyeonggi Online Medical Meeting for patients in Central Asia to provide an opportunity for overseas patients and Korean medical staff to meet face-to-face. The meetings will be held from June 28 to July 23, 2021. Those who wish to make an appointment can book their meetings online after being matched with specialists. On the day of the appointment, the meetings will be conducted over Zoom for a maximum of 20 minutes.

Sixteen medical institutions in Gyeonggi-do equipped with excellent medical technology and experienced specialists (Seoul National University Bundang Hospital, Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital Bucheon, The Catholic University of Korea Bucheon St. Mary’s Hospital, Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, Myongji Hospital, NHIC Ilsan Hospital, Bobath Memorial Hospital, GSAM Hospital, Ajou University Medical Center, CHA Bundang Medical Center, Ohkims Plastic Surgery, Ohkims Aesthetic Clinic, Joeunson Plastic Surgery Clinic, Sejong General Hospital,  Lee Chun Tek Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, Wiltse Memorial Hospital) will be participating in the online meetings. From these institutions, 30 medical specialists from the following departments will be providing services: surgery; thoracic surgery; urology; circulatory internal medicine; gynecology; dermatology; and orthopedics.

The online meetings will be an opportunity for medical staff in Korea to provide courage and hope to patients in urgent need of treatment or surgery and assist them to solely focus on their treatment and recovery online. If needed, the staff will provide measures for the patients to come to Korea for treatment.

Gyeonggi-do and Central Asia to Continue Close Medical Cooperation

Gyeonggi-do and Central Asia have maintained a close and friendly relationship in terms of medical cooperation. Gyeonggi-do has signed an MOU on cooperation within healthcare with not only the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan, but also regional governments including: Nur-Sultan, the capital of the country; Almaty, the heart of economy, culture, and resources; Aktobe Region; Akmola Region; and Mangystau Region. In addition, the two countries have been continuously actively engaged in exchanges such as invitation seminars for medical staff, and healthcare marketing programs between the two governments. Furthermore, Gyeonggi-do has been continuously maintained a relationship with Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, emerging powers of Central Asia, in terms of inter-government cooperation, personal exchanges among medical staff, and other marketing programs. There have been a number of instances where patients in need of treatment or surgery from Central Asia have come to Korea to receive assistance.
